Virtual dub이란 동영상을 필터, 편집, 제작, 등등.. 수많은 기능을 가진 동영상 편집 프로그램이다.
최신 버전은 공식 홈페이지(http://www.virtualdub.org/)에서 다운 가능하다.
GNU GPL로 공개되어있다. 간단히 말하면 free다.
다운로드 받아 실행하면 아래와 같은 창이 뜰것이다.
자 이제 화일을 열어보자...
File -> Open video file(Ctrl + O) -> 비디오 화일 선택
아마 에러가 발생할 것이다.물론 에러가 발생하지 않고 열릴 수도 있다.
여기서 에러 발생의 원인은 코덱의 유무에 있다.
open하려고한 비디오화일의 코덱이 설치되어 있다면 무리 없이 열릴것이고, 비디오화일의 코덱이 설치되어 있지 않다면 에러메시지가 출력될 것이다.
코덱의 종류에는 여러가지가 있겠지만...그 중에 대표적으로 DVIX,XDIV,H.264,WMV가 널리 사용된다. 물론 웹상에서는 VP6가 가장 널리 사용되고 있다.

다운로드 받은 코덱을 설치한 후 virtual dub를 실행하여 화일을 불러와 보자.
이번엔 에러없이 화일이 불러질 것이다.
화일을 불러오면 아래와 같은 화면을 볼 수 있다.
자 이제 무긍무진한 virtual dub의 기능을 마음껏 사용할 수 있게 된것이다.
